Claiming your Tax Refund is a breeze with these 3 easy steps
Step 1: Shop at Participating Retailers
Since all refunds (cash or non-cash) are processed by “Global Tax Free Pte Ltd” (the approved Central Refund Counter Operator), not Singapore Customs, you have to shop at its participating stores. We have listed all Tourism Refund Scheme participating shops at Changi Airport just above.
Browse and shop at participating stores proudly displaying the “Tax Free” logo, where you’ll enjoy tax-free shopping. Ensure to present your passport to the retailers to validate your eligibility under the Tourist Refund Scheme. Upon purchase, the retailer will issue an electronic eTRS transaction along with your passport details. Hold on to your original receipts provided by the retailer until you receive your refund.
Step 2: Retrieve
Head to the eTRS self-help kiosks at Changi Airport with your passport, purchased goods, and receipts before checking in your items. For checked-in items, visit the kiosks at the Departure Check-in Hall before Departure Immigration. For hand-carry items, utilize the kiosks at the Departure Transit Lounge after Departure Immigration. Scan your passport and follow the simple on-screen instructions to process your refund efficiently.
Step 3: Choose Your Refund Method
At the eTRS self-help kiosks in Changi International Airport, you’ll have several convenient refund options available:
- Credit card refund: Approved refund amounts will be credited within 10 days.
- Alipay refund: Enjoy immediate payment for your refund.
- Cash refund: Visit the GST Cash Refund counter in the Departure Transit Lounge after Departure Immigration, along with your passport, for cash refunds.
